'Murder by Decree - Jewes

Murder By Decree is one of Christopher Plummer's best cinematic performances.  He was a credible Holmes because he humanized the character without sacrificing Holmes' logical acuity. And, James Mason, as Watson, made a good foil for Holmes' innate "murder is my business" mannerisms -- the scene with the peas on a plate is a classic example.  I have this movie and made a point to get it because, although I'm a fan of the Jeremy Bret and David Burke duo (and Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce before them), Plummer's portrayal made Holmes more human and less of a crime-calculator machine that was solely interested in clues.'
